1,200 Drones Over Burnsville, and It's Free to Walk In
The Burnsville Festival & Fire Muster runs September 10–12 at Civic Center Park. Friday at 9:30 PM, a 1,200-drone show honors the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Saturday brings the fire truck parade at 11 AM and the largest fireworks in festival history.
Catch headliners Kat Perkins Country Roads on Friday and Femmes of Rock on Saturday plus beer tents and bingo gaming on the grounds.
Family Fun Zone wristbands are $12 Friday and $17 Saturday with an online purchase. Both go up $3 after September 10.

Shakopee Has 5 Flock Cameras. Here's What They Do (and Don't).
Shakopee's license plate cameras cost $18,000 a year, and officers need a judge's search warrant to dig through the database unless someone's life is on the line. The city deletes the data after 30 days and says it shares with Prior Lake only, not ICE or any federal agency.
Shakopee's Amphitheater Fix: Tilted Speakers, State Meters, and a Number to Call
Mystic Lake Amphitheater's lot now empties in about 40 minutes, and city staff say traffic is basically dialed in. Sound is still a work in progress, but if a show is too loud at your house, call during the concert so Live Nation can take a reading on the spot.
Lakeville Could Grow by 560 Acres Near Eureka Township
Lakeville and Eureka Township just set the rules for annexing about 560 acres of farmland near 225th Street, home to roughly 28 people. Nobody gets pulled in against their will. Owners have to ask, and the city sees Airlake-style industrial growth as the likely path.
Eagan Planners Back a New Animal Hospital on Pilot Knob Road
Eagan's Planning Commission recommended Mendakota Animal Hospital at 2781 Pilot Knob Road by a 6-0 vote, including a 600-square-foot addition on the old medical office. Dogs, cats, and small pets are in. Horses and routine boarding are out. City Council still has the final say.
South Metro Scoop is free and always will be. If you want to help keep it going, you can chip in below. Every bit helps.
